Our robust red varietals represent the rich diversity of the Columbia River Gorge microclimates. Each of these wines is handcrafted with an unyielding focus on fruit expression. The winemaker utilizes a strict regimen of hand punch-downs, completely banning pump-overs to avoid over-extracting bitter, aggressive tannins. Following our "fruit first" mantra, the wines are pressed just before reaching complete dryness to lock in rich dark fruits and peppery spice notes.
Unlike our Pinot Noir, these "Big Reds" spend an extended rest in tight-grained Alain Fouquet French oak barrels to allow their big structures to seamlessly integrate. We never "over-vintage" or rush our reds; they are bottled only when the oak, fruit, and tannins have perfectly unified, resulting in big, structurally rich wines that are remarkably smooth and ready to enjoy upon release.
